Publisher's Summary:
During a New Orleans Mardi Gras Ball, psychic entertainer Diana Racine touches the hand of a masked Cyrano de Bergerac and is instantly transported into the icy-cold body of a dead woman submerged in water. As Diana crumples to the floor, water filling her lungs, she hears Cyrano whisper that the game has begun.
Diana has been called every epithet in the book: charlatan, cheat, publicity hound...and genius - all at least partially true. But convincing New Orleans police lieutenant Ernie Lucier that her vision of the dead woman is the real thing may be her hardest act yet. He becomes a believer when Diana leads him to the alligator-infested bayou and the woman's remains. When another vision leads to another body, it's clear that the two dead women are a prelude to the killer's ultimate victim - Diana.

Exciting, full of twists and turns!
Polly Iyer is one of my favorite authors. I read this book a couple of years ago and had forgotten many of the details, so I got the audio. I still love the story and the characters--it's not often you can feel any sympathy for the bad guy, but I did in Mind Games. Diana and the other characters are believable and likeable, and I found the plot just as exciting and full of twists and turns this time as I did the first.
Ms. Druyor's narration is excellent. I never had difficulty separating the characters, and thought she created a great villain as well as the fascinating heroine, Diana Racine. The narrator really touched me at one point when a character had reached her limits and thought she was dying. (You'll know when you hear it.)
I highly recommend Mind Games, both the book and the audio.
Ok story
Any additional comments?
This book features Diana Racine a psychic that helped track down murderers as a child but when it became too much she told her parents she lost her powers. She became a sensation as a performing psychic but her inner circle believed she was getting feed information by her spies without doing actual readings. She begins to be stalked by a man she was responsible for putting behind bars years earlier. As the cops try to figure out who is terrorizing her she finds herself falling in love with one of them.

Not my normal genre, but this was captivating!
Suspense is not normally what I read/listen to, but this one had me listening until 2 AM and then resuming the next morning after coffee. Glad I was on vacation or my work would have suffered. The story was intriguing. Ms. Druyor's performance helped to pull me into the story, and her character voices were easily distinguishable and distinct for each character. Well worth the 10+ hours to listen to.
Worst book ever!
What could have made this a 4 or 5-star listening experience for you?
Better narrator, lose the horrible stereotypes.
Would you be willing to try another one of Gwendolyn Druyors performances?
No! This was a bad book and her reading, voice interpretations will give you nightmares.
Any additional comments?
This book is so full of dated stereotypes it detracts from the story. Please, Blanche? how dated and biased.
