If anyone has internalized money stories, it’s got to be therapists. In this episode, I’m welcoming in three different therapists who have worked through their money stories. We cover money stories, overcoming fee-setting fears, and niching down. Huge thank you to my guests Alli Douglas, John Sovec, and Courtland McPherson for showing up and being so transparent with topics that so many of us avoid.

Women aren’t as good at money as men. Women aren’t good at math. Women are worse than men at investing. Women spend too much impulsively. Women who make a lot of money won’t be desirable. Ouf. Have you ever heard these terrible myths about women and money? In today’s podcast episode, I’m busting these myths wide open with research. As a plus, I offer some new thoughts you can use if you are a woman suffering from believing any of these myths.
Money shame impacts us all. Feeling bad about ourselves and our money makes it hard to trust ourselves and take action. In this episode, I share how my money shame has been showing up as a small business owner, what I'm committing to doing differently, and how to release money shame from your psyche. If you are a woman ready to say goodbye to money shame, join me on Monday August 3, 2020 at 6:30pm EST. Register here: https://boundless.mykajabi.com/money-shame-release-party
The #MillionaireMonday series is a campaign all about highlighting diversity in millionaires and soon-to-be-millionaires. As I’ve conducted these interviews, I’ve seen a pattern in most of the millionaires. They include things like not including their primary home as a large source of their net worth, avoiding lifestyle creep, and giving back to causes that are important to them.
It seems counterintuitive to say that creating structure will open up freedom, but in this episode I’m here to tell you that creating rules with your money will allow you to have more flexibility in your financial life. In this episode, we’ll discuss decision fatigue, and talk about three potential rules you can use to start implementing financial structure in your life today.
You can have an abundance mindset without glossing over real barriers in your life. Spiritual bypassing is what happens in spiritual communities when they overlook the systems and barriers a person faces. In this episode, you’ll learn how to have a positive outlook on your money while addressing real barriers.
I can only answer this question for folks who are considering working with me. Therapists and coaches all have different approaches and are better fits for certain clients than others. In this episode, I share with you whether or not couples financial therapy with me is a good fit for you. My ideal clients are a couple who have been together for a while, ten years or longer, who have consumed all of the personal finance books and podcasts, but they are stuck. They consume and learn but struggle to implement their learnings. My job is to help couples learn more about their money story, give them the language they need to discuss money in a wise and non-defensive way, and move them toward implementing what they’ve learned. While large corporations are getting called in to speak on their stance on Black Lives Matter, I wanted to take this opportunity to discuss why I open my podcast with the words “I’m a woman of color.” In this episode, you’ll learn a few different definitions that are being used frequently in the world, why race and money are linked, and how our mental health care in the West is rooted in white privilege.
Cognitive behavioral therapy or thought work is the belief that our thoughts impact our feelings, which impact our behaviors. In this podcast episode, I break down how we can use this technique to help you move forward from negative money thoughts into positive ones. This simple shift can help you make huge positive changes in your relationship with money.
I am a firm believer that each person or couple should have multiple savings accounts to help them achieve their financial goals. In this episode, I share the main ones I advise all of my clients to open up and why. I cover saving for emergencies, irregular expenses, and goals in this episode. This episode was inspired by my online course Clarify for Couples, a 3-part video training that helps couples automatically save and spend in alignment with their values.
