Mind of Smoothie

Happy HALFWAY TO HALLOWEEN!!!

I was hoping to get this episode out a little sooner, but it is all gravy baby because here it is!

In this episode to celebrate the fact that we are now more than halfway to Halloween 2022, I could not pass up the opportunity to talk a little bit about one of my more recent favorites, Trick or Treat from 1986!  It is only fairly recent that I found this most hidden of the hidden gems of Halloween goodness, thanks to Matt and Jay of The Purple Stuff Podcast (podbean.com)!

I have to be honest, since discovering this movie, it gets played at least 3-4 times a year and that is just at the minimum!  I hope that if this is the first-time hearing of Trick or Treat or maybe it has been long dormant in your memories, I hope that you feel inspired to check the movie out and follow along on the adventures of Ragman and rock's chosen warrior Sammi Curr!

Now sit back, relax, pop some popcorn or pour yourself your favorite bowl of cereal and enjoy the show!

We have made it to the end of the first run syndication mini-series here on the Mind of Smoothie podcast!  From the moment I started this serious I couldn't wait to get to the Tales from the Darkside episode.

Truth be told this idea for this series came to me at the end of the summer last year as I was looking forward to the Halloween season.  My plan was to release this episode on or around Halloween, but life happened.  I am just glad that I didn't abandon ship on the idea overall!

I had fun making these episodes and this series and I hope you all enjoyed listening.

But enough of that let's get into this week's episode Tales from the Darkside!

Sit back, relax, pop some popcorn or pour yourself your favorite bowl of cereal and enjoy the show!

We are now entering the home stretch!  So far on our foray into first run syndication we have looked at The Munsters Today and What's Happening Now!!.  On this episode we look the 1985 sitcom Small Wonder.

Small Wonder ran for 4 seasons and each season had 24 episodes.  The show ran from 1985-1989.

Small Wonder was definitely my favorite of the shows that we talked about so far.

Tune in next time for the final episode of this series!

Now sit back, relax, pop some popcorn or pour yourself your favorite bowl of cereal and enjoy the show!

Greetings!  After teasing this episode back in in August and not following through on it, we have finally arrived here...here we are.

Over the course of the next few episodes, we are going to look at some of my favorite first-run syndication television programs from the 80s.  To kick things off we are going to look at the totally tubular, awesomely eighties The Munsters Today!  The Munsters Today was a modernization of the 1960s television hit The Munsters.

I enjoyed this show as a kid and watching the clips that I could find today; this show still holds up.

Enjoy the show!

Happy New Year!  After a not so brief hiatus ya boy Smoothie has returned and kicking off 2022 with a BANG!  On today's episode we will be talking about the 1980 holiday slasher New Year's Evil.  Although the film has been critically panned it has found a cult status in the cold hearts of horror fans.

This was my first viewing, but I know it is not my last and is certain to become a holiday tradition in this household.

What other horror movies are set on New Year's Eve and what are your favorites?  Let me know on the socials using the hashtag #mindofsmoothiepodcast and let's get a conversation going.

Nothing better represents the Fourth of July than, a parade, fireworks, a barbecue, and a zombified Uncle Sam wanting you...DEAD!  On this weeks episode of the Mind of Smoothie podcast we take a look and talk about the 1996  film Uncle Sam.

This was my first time watching the film, and certainly not the last.  Uncle Sam has certainly found its place in the holiday rotation.

What other horror movies take place during the Fourth of July and what are your favorites?

Uncle Sam is currently streaming for free on TubiTv.
