Antlers & Acorns: The Boone Songwriters Festival was built to connect music lovers with the songwriters that created these special personal connections.

On this week's Mind Your Business, we talk with event organizer Shari Smith, and get a full rundown of the Antlers & Acorns Schedule, which runs September 5-11 throughout Boone and Watauga County.

We'll also hear from NASCAR legend Kyle Petty, a driver turned songwriter and author now that is racing days are in the past. He discusses how a live in motorsports lead him to picking up the guitar and becoming a performer. Petty also shares how Boone and Watauga County have long been a connection for he and his entire family, making his upcoming performance at the Appalachian Theatre even more special.
