  • Season 4: E6 | Paying Black Women's Student Loans with Bri of The Prosp(a)rity Project

This week's episode is INCREDIBLE!!! Briana, aka Bri, is the co-founder of a nonprofit called The Prosp(a)rity Project (TPP). Just a few months into the pandemic, Bri hatched the idea for TPP and hired a team to launch this supportive community that helps college-educated Black women pay down student loan debt by granting them up to $40,000 in aid and offering them career coaching, financial literacy education and more! I'm pumped for you the hear this one!!

TPP was created as a result of Bri herself, graduating college with over $116,000 in student loan debt and subsequently being subject to the pitfalls of this burden. Post-graduation, she experienced adversity at every turn, including inability to establish financial security/ independence, difficulty securing well-paying, long-term career opportunities and having to abandon prior entrepreneurial ventures to take on part-time jobs as a means of stay current on her monthly student loan payments.

  • Season 4: E5 | Parent Plus Loans Almost Buried My Family in Debt with Sofia Bastida

After connecting with her in a slack group, I knew Sofie had a story that needed to be shared widely! A first-gen Latina, Sofia Bastida had very supportive parents who wanted to her to pursue what they had not - graduate college and get her degree. This was a dream they wanted her to fulfill at any cost and it put them over $100,000 in debt from student loans.

Sofie talks about her upbringing in California and how moving to NYC changed her views about m money and gave her a sense of independence. But the hardest thing she's done and the thing she's most proud of was taking ownership of the debt she put her mother in for her college education. Listen to Sofie talk about it all and sum up the tips she thinks anyone with debt should have in their back pocket!

  • Season 4: E2 | Hood to Hamilton to Harvard with Tiffany Mellard

I'm taking it WAY BACK to my high school days with this week's guest, Tiffany Mellard! Tiff and I graduated from the same class at LaGuardia HS in NYC back in 2007! She is an incredibly talented and passionate dancer who turned her passion into her profession. She tells us ALL about the importance of your money mindset when you work in creative arts for a living and she dished the tea about her role in Hamilton as "the Bay bullet" that ended the life of Alexander Hamilton on the Broadway hit, Hamilton: An American Musical.

When the pandemic shut down everything and Tiffany had to leave her personal belongings at the theatre and fly back home, she found herself soul-searching and made the best pivot I've seen in all of 2020 and 2021! Tiffany's realness and honesty shines bright and makes her easily one of my favorite people to catch up with in real life and also to follow on IG!

Her money mantra is a quote from Jay-Z: "Difficult takes a day. Impossible takes a week."

Dyana is now debt-free and on a mission to help other women, especially single moms, to maximize their income and get out of debt the same way she did!

This week's conversation GAVE ME LIFE!!! So many amazing points made by Julia Menez of @GeoBreezeTravel as she dove right into the ins and outs of the marketing behind major travel hacking blogs! They love to play up the luxury of traveling to many of the countries that immigrant communities call home without inviting immigrant communities to participate in travel hacking - but don't worry Julia's got our backs!
