We introduce our first therapist guest on the show, sister Aiman Merali. She runs her own private practice, and was a delight to have on the show. She educated me on the importance of premarital counseling, when to initiate the process, how it is done, the benefits of having these types of counseling sessions, etc. As Muslims, are there specific types of therapist we need to seek? Do we seek therapy only when something is "broken"? What about Istikhira? But what happens when Allah gives the green light to marry someone, what is the point of the counseling at that point?
Tune in to find out more. Believe you me, she does not disappoint.

Pastor Mike is back again, and this time we are chatting about what it takes to be a Godly Father. Mike revisits the birth of his first child and how he freaked out upon finding out his wife was pregnant. He shares with me his list of qualities of a Godly Father. We tackle why a lot of fathers are absent from their homes (and kids). What about Satan? What role does he play in all of this?

In this lengthy episode, I sit down with four awesome and spiritually uplifting guests. Jew, Christian and Muslim. We all come together and discuss the one thing we all love to talk about: God. We converse about the way we converse to God, what is life without God, do we find ourselves drawing nearer to God during adversity or prosperity. What advice would we give to our younger or older selves as it relates to the Al-Mighty. We share our journey on how we found God, from suicidal thoughts to loving life (and God). Khadija shares her journey from scoliosis and rebellious ways to finding God. Asha shares her two major car collisions and her suicidal thoughts to finding the beauty of life. Emeth recalls the time when he had to take many buses to five different colleges, and how that time of solitude led him to God. And finally, Yvonne takes us back to her childhood as she narrates her Christian background but wasn't brought up in the Church. The story of Solomon had a profound effect on her. I am joined by two artistically talented guests this week as we discuss art and how it relates to spirituality. Are art and spirituality mutually exclusive? Should art be about gaining profit or expressing one's self? What about the Quran and its Author? Is the Quran a poet and thus Allah a poet? How is art in general manifested in the universe? All these and more are discussed in this informative and entertaining episode. Tune in. Don't forget to rate and leave a review.

Our youngest guest thus far is gracing us today, and sharing with us his wealth of knowledge on Astrology and The Zodiac Signs. How does astrology tie in to spirituality? What do the Zodiac signs mean? Are they reliable and accurate? What does Islam say about it? Can Muslims rely on this?

The Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him & his family) said, “The best of you are those who are best to their family, and I am the best amongst you to my family.” Imam Ja’far…
I’m King Abu, your host. Originally from East Africa and now living in the States, I’m a full-time provider, student, and most importantly, a father to two energetic boys. Life keeps me busy, and let’s be real—Somali tea keeps me going.
But beyond the daily hustle, my journey led me to a painful realization: our communities are struggling with broken families, and no one wants to talk about it. After my divorce, I saw firsthand how unprepared many of us are for marriage and the responsibilities that come with it. Divorce rates in the Muslim Ummah are rising, and if we want to change that, we need to start at the root—by preparing ourselves and our youth for healthy, lasting relationships.
That’s why Mindful Meeting isn’t just about marriage. It’s about holistic growth—spiritually, financially, mentally, emotionally, and physically—because building strong families starts with becoming strong individuals. Every week, I sit down with experts and real people to uncover wisdom, share stories, and learn how to navigate life’s challenges with faith and intention.
This is more than a podcast. It’s a movement—one that calls us to revive the affairs of Ahlul Bayt, strengthen our homes and families, and become the best versions of ourselves. So, grab a cup of my Somali tea, as that’s my specialty, and let’s embark together on this journey.
Lastly, I am known for my Somali tea; it is my specialty!
