    Mindfulness
has so many different perspectives depending on who you talk to and how
they apply it. For me, I just get quiet and just live in the now. Most
of us live our lives in the light of the past or the future. We live in
the past in either shame or victim mentality, or something devastating
happened and that holds us back. We become victim to that in our own
mindset, that becomes one prison. Or the 'good old days', we wish we
could go back to the good times.  That holds us back from what's in
    front of us.
In front of us we often look at certain goals or what
we want to accomplish and we say, 'I'll be happy when ...'. It could be
a home, a job, an income. Anytime you have these goals, they can just
become a bottomless well. Instead of looking at the past or the future
for happiness, happiness is actually in the present. In the present you
can find yourself going to a place of being grateful for the people in
    your life.

It gave me the opportunity to pause and take stock of where I was and what I needed to do.Thoughts on BreathingBreathing is probably the foundation of my mindfulness practice. Simply the act of taking a deep breath when I think something or I am racing gives me enough pause to stop and really determine what the right action is. I've always learned in order to change directions you have to stop first and you know my brain doesn't know how to stop without physical queues. Taking a deep in-breath and blowing it out is a significant part of that stopping. Similar to my concept of spirituality is I breathe in the universe and I breathe out Michael. Just that simple visualization of Michael being that out of control, out of touch set of emotions in my body, I simply breathe in the peace that is out there and I breathe out myself.[show-notes-breathing]Suggested ResourcesBook: The Unteathered Soul by Michael SingerApp: Breathe / Calm / HeadspaceAdvice for NewbieI have learned that mindfulness doesn't require fancy outfits and renovated rooms in your house and expensive teachers. • 105 Consistency and Mindfulness Weekends With Bruce Langford
Consistency paired with mindfulness will help you achieve your most
important goals. Stick with it. I'm sure you've heard that plenty of
times. Consistency can be one of the trickiest concepts, because as
humans, we tend to see things differently depending on our mood and the
world around us. When you decide on a goal, it is important to also
decide at the same time to be consistent.
    Create a habit to help
you achieve your goal and keep that habit going. Be consistent and you
will notice you'll start to do the action like its on auto pilot. This
is what I found when I was learning to play the piano, then later the
accordion and saxophone. Sometimes my mind would tell me the song was
too hard, I'd never get the rhythms, and I might as well give up. In
spite of those voices, I'd usually end up practicing anyway, and by
being consistent, putting in the time and sticking with it, I'd
eventually learn to play the piece of music I was working on.Quotes:“Whatever you hold in your mind on a consistent basis is exactly what you will experience in your life.” Anthony RobbinsIt’s not what we do once in a while that shapes our lives. It’s what we do consistently. Tony RobbinsIf you are persistent you will get it. If you are consisted your will keep it. AnonConsistency is not perfection. It is simply refusing to give up. Start with one simple practice, take timeouts during your day. If your
stressed out at work just take a couple minutes every single day to get
up and move around, take some deep breaths and you can build on things.
If your starting with meditation, you might start with a simple hundred
count breathing exercise and then expand on that as you become more
comfortable with it but simply it at first. Build small incremental
habits one step at a time and over the long haul you will see a ton of

Change your thoughts and let mindfulness help you do it. Dr. Wayne
Dyer encourages you to do the same. He even wrote and entire book
dedicated to this concept. It is based on the Tao Te Ching by Lao Tzu.Quotes:If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. How people treat you is their karma; how you react is yours. When you judge another, you do not define them, you define yourself.“You must become the producer, director and actor in the unfolding story of your life.” — Wayne Dyer“Doing what you love is the cornerstone of having abundance in your life.” — Wayne Dyer“There

there’s only scarcity of resolve to make it happen.” — Wayne Dyer“Passion
is a feeling that tells you: this is the right thing to do. Nothing can
stand in my way. It doesn’t matter what anyone else says. This feeling
is so good that it cannot be ignored. I’m going to follow my bliss and
act upon this glorious sensation of joy.” — Wayne Dyer“What we think determines what happens to us, so if we want to change our lives, we need to stretch our minds.” — Wayne Dyer“The
more you see yourself as what you’d like to become, and act as if what
you want is already there, the more you’ll activate those dormant forces
that will collaborate to transform your dream into your reality.” —
Wayne Dyer“Change the way you look at things and the things you look at will change.” — Wayne Dyer“Not
only do you become what you think about, but the world also becomes
what you think about. Those who think that the world is a dark place are
blind to the light that might illuminate their lives. Those who see the
light of the world view the dark spots as merely potential light.” —
Wayne Dyer“If you believe it will work out , you’ll see opportunities. If you believe it won’t you will see obstacles.” — Wayne Dyer“Begin with the end in mind. Advice for NewbieThe
most important thing is momentum and what I mean by that is breaking it
down to very very small steps. I once heard that habit is formed after
three weeks. After practicing something for three weeks it becomes a
habit so whether it's making sure you just drink two liters of water a
day, just something as simple as that. If you are continually building
on that and making that a habit and practicing it over and over again
you are going to build momentum and then you're going to be able to take
on something else. For mindfulness start small and build on it, gain
