On this episode of Minds of Motorsport I have the pleasure of chatting with NLP practitioner, driver coach and former racer Tony Regan. Tony’s had an array of experience in and around the motorsport field from racing cars at a young age to now working with people from all walks of life including drivers to help them overcome a variety of challenges through the use of Neuro Linguistic Programming. During our chat we spoke about Tony’s journey in motorsport and how he got involved in NLP. We also touch on a variety of common challenges facing drivers from performance anxiety, limiting beliefs, goal setting and being in the flow state.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we chat with 2017 Dunlop Super2 winner and current Supercars Championship driver Todd Hazelwood. As Todd approaches his second season in the main game I thought it would be a great time to reflect on the journey to where he is today. We talk about his first time in a supercar, how he met Jason Gomersall and connected with MSR, and his first season in the Supercars Championship. This episode shares a lot of insight into what it takes to make it, from the role of Todd’s family, to the hard work and sacrifices made along the journey to get him to where he is today. Todd also gives us some insight into life outside the track and a special Ford Zephyr that he is currently working on restoring.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we are joined by Darwin local and Formula Renault Eurocup driver Thomas Maxwell. Thomas has finished his third full season abroad in Europe with a 10th place in this years Formula Renault Eurocup championship. In our chat Thomas shares some great insights into his journey racing in the UK and Europe as well as the challenges and language barriers a driver faces when competing on the continent. We hear about his first time racing at the famous Monaco circuit and how he battled in F3 against Lando Norris. I also ask Thomas about fear and how to get the most out of yourself on a street circuits.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we are joined by Brit racer and The Grand Tour test driver Abbie Eaton. Abbie has a unique story but one that shows true talent having achieved podiums in every racing category she has entered into. My chat with Abbie talks about the early days of her racing and how she got interested in the Aussie Supercars category. We go on to talk about her ambitions and plan in Australia as well as her role in The Grand Tour, how it came about and what she learned from being on TV. Abbie also speaks about how important a positive mindset is in achieving your dreams.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we are joined by 2018 Porsche Carrera Cup debutant Adam Garwood. Adam’s racing journey has seen him race a variety of cars but most notably the Touring Car Masters Capri and Torana as well as the both current and past Carrera Cup race cars. My chat discusses Adam’s first season in Carrera Cup and what it was like running a racing team out of Tasmania. We also chat about his first time working with team mates and how that has helped his progress to achieve some top 10s in the latter part of the season. Finally we discuss his past experiences in Touring Car Masters and chat about the various cars he has driven in this category and a bit about the series in general.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we chat to Central Coast NSW racer Drew Ridge. Our chat is primarily based around his journey to Germany and his experiences racing in the TT cup where we learn about what it took to get a wildcard opportunity, the intensiveness of the Audi training camp as well as his experiences living in a country where, at first, he didn’t speak the language.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we chat to the brother of V8 Supercar driver Paul Radisich. Chris has an array of experience in the technical side of motorsport and has some interesting insight and stories along his journey. Chris, now based out of USA, works with local Esports team Redback Racing Team in helping drivers in the technical sides of racing and we go in depth about his role and how similar the sim racing engineering side is to real life.

On this episode of Minds of Motorsport we sit down with Toowoomba local and Kumho racer Maxim Erickson. Maxim has raced across a variety of grassroots Australian Motorsports categories from Karting to Excel Racing, before moving on to V8 Utes and in 2018 taking part in some of the rounds of the Kumho Series. Our chat focuses on Excel racing and V8 Utes, as we discuss about taming each of these cars, using Excel racing to develop race craft and Maxim’s first time attack of Bathurst in a V8 ute, and what an experience that was.
