In this episode, we chat with guitar player turned drummer, Steve Obrien. Steve is a well known musician in the Niagara area. He started out at the age of eight taking guitar lessons at Rysons Music, and in his twenties, fell in love with the drums and decided to dedicate this passion of music to kit. Since then, he has dove into the world of jazz, and believes that if you work really hard and commit yourself to your craft, you can achieve great musicianship.
Steve talks about his influences as a drummer, his love of latin beats and what has changed in the music scene over the years. We also dive into what the future of the industry will possibly look like after over a year of live music being put on hold due to covid.
Steve is currently working on a project called the Parkside Jazz Trio with Chris Diplock and Terry Walsh as well as an original instrumental project with Paul Mulley from Fort Erie, Ontario. Keep an eye out for some upcoming releases soon!
