In this episode I tell the story about how coach Don Meyer has forever impacted my life and how I am working to share the message he gave me with the world. Yes that message is 'Give Your Gift Away Every Day'.
Mayf and I have put a quick pause on bringing in guests so that I can share my story with our listeners to better help them understand the why and the purpose behind Mindset Sports & the Mindset Sports Podcast. This episode is sharing a small part of my journey to help the listeners understand my passion, my purpose and my message when it comes to personal growth & development.
We also announce the addition of weekly 'Gameday' episodes where we focus on mindset when discussing and providing value on different sport topics. We hope you enjoy and you follow Mayf & I in giving your gift away every day!! Stay tuned for my story in the following episodes and for some upcoming amazing guests.
Welcome to this Bonus Episode of the Mindset Sports Podcast 'Fear of Failure' Halloween Edition. In this episode we bring a special mystery guest on the Coach D & Mayf Holiday LIVE show to celebrate Halloween. You can't see us but we are dressed up as the Blues Brothers.
Mayf doesn't know who the guest is but soon finds out it isn't Jason but it is our good friend and former tight end for the Alabama Crimson Tide football team, Hale Hentges. Hale was a senior captain, 2 time national champion and 3 time SEC champion during his time with Roll Tide.
He went to high school with Mayf and I had the opportunity to coach him in basketball and be the athletic director his senior year. You don't want to miss out on the wisdom Hale shares about 'Fear of Failure' and his time being coached by Nick Saban. You couldn't ask for more from a former division 1 and professional athlete. Regardless of the level he gives the gold when it comes to attitude and effort.
Enjoy as we speak with one of the most coachable, hard working athletes I've ever met!!
Welcome to Episode 16 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "Always Dream Big: The Traveling Sand Lot". We are back with our second and final episode with Coach Ballgame. All I can say is Wow!!
It's amazing how a person with a dream, a passion and a purpose can create greatness. We are so appreciative of Coach Ballgame sharing his story and how his dream is coming to life. In this episode Coach talks about how a donor of a family who didn't even know him gave money towards his Sand Lots because they loved his purpose.
We learn how that money was put to use this summer as Coach Ballgame, his wife and precious daughters traveled across the country putting on sand lots and sharing their love of baseball.
Oh and Coach got to live out childhood dreams of his own. You'll want to listen to this episode from start to finish. Hopefully, it inspires you to start dreaming, keep dreaming and then to put your dreams into action!!
Welcome to Episode 13 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "You are Worthy, You are Worth It & You are Loved".
In our 2nd episode with speaker & coach Brryan Jackson we learn that he went nearly 17 years of his life before he felt accepted as a part of something outside of his own home. Most of the obstacles laid in front of Brryan were out of his control, yet he continued to persevere and look for a place where he fit in.
We've all witnessed rejection and the emptiness it leaves inside. The lack of self-worth and the desire to just fit in. It's unfathomable to think of all of the years Brryan felt rejected and not wanted. It's amazing to learn how Brryan fought through his no's until he finally found a yes in sport he hadn't imagined.
I think we can all relate to wanting to feel, worthy, worth it and loved. This episode will inspire and motivate you to keep working towards your goals!
Welcome to Episode 11 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "The Impact of a Father & Love of a Daughter". In our final episode of telling the story of Rocky Sickmann, Mayf and I bring on his daughter Chelsea & son in law Kalen to give our listeners a view of Rocky from the lens of his loved ones.
I think at some point in our lives we all ask God why we have to suffer. I truly believe Rocky Sickmann is a living, breathing example of why. What he endured from 444 days as a hostage in Iran will cause him suffering for the rest of his life but through the struggle he has found his gift and gives it away every single day.
In this episode you can see the true love and admiration Chelsea has for her father. You'll learn how she first found out what her father had been through and how he continuously impacts her life everyday.
This casual conversation is one of my favorites so far. Sit back, relax and be prepared to enjoy another amazing episode of the Mindset Sports Podcast.
Welcome to Episode 10 of the Mindset Sports Podcast "Making The Most of It". In our third episode with Marine Sgt. Rocky Sickmann, we bring on his best friend Billy Gallegos who was held hostage with him in Iran. Rocky & Billy were in a room together for over 400 days while being held hostage.
We are captivated as they tell stories of how they passed the time of going through what I would describe as a living hell. From being tied down, rarely seeing daylight, to facing mock firing squads and constantly being blindfolded these two have found a way to overcome their challenges to give back to others.
You will see the special bond they built as they did their best to handle their time in captivity. Towards the end of the episode we take the time to discuss the ever so important topic for many of our veterans, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. As you listen to this episode do your best to put into perspective what Rocky and Billy have been through while serving our country. We are all truly blessed to have these two amazing men as an inspiration to us all.
