  • 06-Wright’s Chain Forged & Broken
In this chapter I will show that N.T.Wright distorts God's judgment, and then uses that distortion to forge what I call his chain. As I noted earlier, I am not speaking of a literal chain, but the argument Wright uses radically to change the biblical doctrine of Christ‟s ministry, his death, and the life of believers in this present age. But I will do more than show how Wright does this – my purpose is to use Scripture to break Wright‟s chain. Before I begin, I would like – as a general cautionary note – to quote some wise words from N.T.Wright, himself. I used some of this in the epigraph, but here is a fuller extract: Isolated verses mean what they mean in context; if you take verses out of their context, you can make them stand on their heads and dance to your tunes and do all sorts of things... Of course, there are many verses in the Old Testament which you can take out of context and they will still speak to you. The Psalms and Proverbs are full of such lines, which jump across the ages and still speak to us. But the broad sweep of Scripture means what it means as it presents itself as.

  • Preface to Grace and Duty - Modernized - Spiritual Mindedness
Introduction to the Preface A Modernized Version of John Owen's work, The Grace and Duty of Being Spiritually Minded. In this opening preface, Dr. John Owen offers a rare and intimate glimpse into the origins of The Grace and Duty of Being Spiritually Minded. Written during a season of severe illness when he believed his public ministry had come to an end, these chapters began as private meditations to comfort his own soul. Upon his unexpected recovery, Owen felt compelled to share these truths—first to a small congregation, and ultimately to the wider church. Recognizing how subtly the cares, anxieties, and allurements of the world invade the believer's mind, Owen presents this treatise not as a dry academic study, but as an urgent pastoral remedy designed to awaken Christians to the daily practice of heavenly-mindedness, which alone brings true spiritual life and peace.

  • 07-Conclusion
I hope I have made good my claim that N.T.Wright distorts the biblical doctrine of God as the God of judgment. Furthermore, that Wright, using this distortion, then distorts Christ‟s threeyear ministry and his crucifixion, and then distorts the ministry of the Spirit through believers during this present age. I am convinced that Scripture shows us that believers are called to preach the appeasement of the wrath of God against sinners and their sin by the propitiation Christ accomplished, with the aim of leading as many sinners as possible to trust Christ for their everlasting salvation, leading to a life of progressive sanctification and conformity to Christ. Wright‟s ministry of believers might be summed up as their engagement in a global, social new-creation project; in short, God will use them in schemes which will „put things right‟. To spell it out, this means believers are to be involved in merciful and compassionate schemes to deal with social injustice, rectify human abuses, heal the sick, engage in political acts to improve the lot of their fellow-humans, and look after the natural world, and the like.

  • The Five Solas and the Gospel We Must Never Surrender
The five solas summarize biblical truths that guard the gospel and direct our confidence to Jesus Christ. In this Reformation Day edition of Contending for the Word Weekly Watch, Dave Jenkins explains Scripture alone, grace alone, faith alone, Christ alone, and glory to God alone. Closing October's Reformation series, Dave shows why every human authority must submit to God's Word, why good works are the fruit of salvation, and why peace with God rests on Christ's finished work. These truths call Christians to humility, assurance in Christ, biblical discernment, and faithful obedience. • Holding Fast to the Faith Once for All Delivered
Christians are called to receive, defend, live, and pass on the faith once for all delivered to the saints. Concluding this church history series, Dave Jenkins considers Jude 3 and 2 Timothy 2:2 and explains how sound doctrine shapes worship, character, family life, the local church, and everyday obedience. Because Jesus Christ faithfully builds and sustains His church, believers can stand firm in the gospel and leave a legacy of faithfulness for the next generation.
