The Buffalo Soldier is the unofficial name of black soldiers on horseback recruited after the civil war to serve on the western frontier

Donna Madison of the Alexander/Madison Chapter of the Kansas City Area, the oldest chapter honoring the Buffalo Soldier. She is part of a team of descendants who are certified to tell the stories.

The City of Park Hills is planning a celebration to honor its hometown hero of World War Two -- Darrell S. Cole who died at the age of 24 and is now buried in Farmington. The USS Cole naval destroyer was named for him.
