  • Oh, Deer: Meet the Does

In this episode of Minute Book, we turn our attention to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Does, a lesser-known yet powerful "unofficial" women's auxiliary of the Elks. Founded in 1921, the BPO Does offered women an organized, fraternal path to service, sisterhood, and social impact at a time when many fraternal doors were closed to them.

    Heather and Seth dive into:

    • The founding story and early controversies of the BPO Does

    • Surprising facts about the Does' contributions to charity and community

    • Where you can still find active Doe Drove chapters today

Whether you're a lifelong Elk, a fraternal historian, or just curious about the women behind the scenes, this episode sheds light on a group that deserves more recognition.

  • The Arctic Brotherhood: Born at Sea

In this episode of Minute Book, Heather Calloway and Seth Anthony open the minute book to uncover the icy origins of the Arctic Brotherhood. This was a fraternal order founded in 1899 aboard a steamship bound for Alaska. Created by gold-seekers and adventurers, the Brotherhood welcomed only those who had truly braved the far north. From driftwood-covered lodges to their surprising code of kindness to dogs and horses, this unique organization left its mark on fraternal history—and even counted President Warren G. Harding among its members.
