In this episode, Ricky shares his journey from a career in law enforcement and fraud detection to an unexpected calling in what can be deemed ministry, as well as life coaching. Not to mention, his amazing new book!
Despite initial disbelief, Ricky recounts how a profound encounter- the three miracles performed on his daughter- led him to embrace a new path filled with writing, acting, teaching, and preaching. His story illustrates the transformative power of acceptance, identity, security, and purpose, all because he had nothing else to do except for turn to God.
Ricky is no saint. In fact, his life was one of struggle, trauma, and sin. He himself admits his mistakes, and he even turned away from the Lord after the first miracle of saving his daughter's life. However, this perfectly shows the path of redemption, and the continual journey of improvement and accountability.
Through studying the Bible, Ricky finds validation for his calling, realizing that the four foundational aspects of acceptance, identity, security, and purpose are not only biblical but also tangible in everyday life. He draws parallels between Jesus' temptation in the wilderness and the universal human needs for those four foundational aspects. He also teaches us about the anatomy of the stronghold, helping us discover and understand ourselves better.
In great detail, Ricky and I also discuss the necessity of supporting each other, rediscovering ourselves after a major life transition, throwing away the lies of toxic leadership, working on our relationship with God, not relying on medication to live, and appreciating life and the miracles in it, because they still happen.
Set sail on our adventure through turbulent waters in life, knowing that Jesus isn't sleeping below deck because He's neglectful. He has mastered- He is the embodiment- of peace and calm in the storms of our lives.
