Arden chats with Maddy (@early_cervical_opening) about outdated terms such as the incompetent cervix and weak cervix. We hear Maddy's story with traumatic birth experience as an outcome of early cervical opening and how her doctors dismissed her concerns until it was almost too late. Arden and Maddy also discuss the racial disparities with ECO and how Black women are almost 3x more at risk than their white counterparts.

I really encourage parents to have a conversation with their provider on what the plan would be if they develop symptoms of ECO; let your provider know if you experience symptoms of ECO, you would like a transvaginal ultrasound to check your cervix.
@icawarecampaign on Instagram is a wonderful advocacy group raising awareness for the diagnosis, and they also provide good information/resources
