Today’s episode I recount the horrendous horrors of the shipwrecked ‘Invercauld’ sailors. In May of 1864 the Scottish vessel ‘Invercauld’ travelling between Melbourne & Peru sailed directly into Auckland Island in the subantarctic Southern Ocean. 19 men made it off the vessel with just the clothes they were standing in. Their struggle to survive in the face of appalling conditions. The desperate measures they were reduced to on one of the most desolate and isolated places on the planet. Is an amazing & tragic one. A textbook lesson in ‘How Not to Command’
