  • SELF-CENTERED LIVES BRING US STRESS AND DEPRESSION

    We were not created to live lonely lives, separated from other human beens and love with our heads and minds buried in screens.

    When we separate from REAL PEOPLE we separate from life and joy.

    The book of Ecclesiastes also known as Qoheleth,

    found in the Old Testament. It says here in chapter one, in the words of David's son, king of
    Jerusalem: Vanity of vanities says Qoheleth, Vanity of vanities, all is vanity. Vanity of vanities, everything is vanity What do people gain from all the hard work that they work so hard at under the sun? A generation goes, and a generation comes,
    but the earth remains as it always has. The sun rises, the sun sets; it returns panting to the place
    where it dawns. The wind blows to the south and goes around to the north; around and around
    blows the wind; the wind returns to its rounds again.
    All streams flow into the sea, yet the sea is never full; To the place where the rivers flow, there they continue to flow. All words are tiring.
    Nobody can say that the eye is satisfied with seeing, neither is the ear filled up by hearing. Whatever has happened, that’s what will happen again; whatever has occurred, that’s what will occur again. There’s nothing new under the sun. People may say about something: “Look at this! It’s new! But it was already around for ages before us. There’s no remembrance of things in the past, nor of things to come in the future. Neither will there be any remembrance among those who come along in the future. This is the word of God.

    En la biografía de San Francisco se nos dice que después de superar su miedo a los leprosos y empezar a servirlos, le gustaba mucho pasear por los campos y los sembradíos de aquella región en los alrededores de Asís. Visitaba los templos y capillas que se encontraba y se ponía a orar un buen rato en cada una de ellas.

    Pero

    un día se encontró con un templo casi en ruinas donde habitaba un sacerdote solo; Era el templo de San Damián…

  • CUANDO EL CIELO CALLA

    Hay veces que estamos pasando una crisis en nuestras vidas; esperamos

    una señal del cielo, una luz, un camino, una dirección para
    nuestras vidas. Nuestras oraciones se vuelven súplicas, esperanza, búsqueda, pregunta.


    En la vida de San Francisco hubo varios momentos así. Uno de ellos fue cuando recién

    se había convertido y Dios le ayudó a superar su asco y terror de los leprosos. Tanto así que iba constantemente a ayudarlos, a curarlos a ser su enfermero. Pero Francisco no sabía todavía a qué
    lo estaba llamando Dios, qué tenía que hacer con su vida, con su
    familia, el negocio de su padre, los viejos amigos impertinentes y
    mundanos. Oraba todos los días por horas seguidas, preguntaba y el
    cielo callaba.

    El padre Larrañaga nos narra en su biografía de Francisco lo siguiente:

    El cielo no se había manifestado todavía. Sus horizontes estaban cubiertos de noche. No se vislumbraba ningún derrotero, y Francisco se conformaba

    con vivir en fidelidad día tras día: dedicaba largas horas al
    Señor, largas horas a los leprosos, sembraba la paz por todas partes. Siempre permanecía en pie como centinela nocturno esperando órdenes, atisbando novedades.


    Me recuerda esto a Jesús durante los primeros 30 años de su vida; esperaba el llamado, no sabía exactamente qué o cuando, hasta que un día Dios le inspiró que fuera ante su primo Juan Bautista y le pidiera ser bautizado. Jesús no sabía que iba a pasar allí o después de su bautismo, pero el Padre sí sabía, lo tenía planeado, y al salir

    del agua recibe el Espíritu Santo; nos dice el evangelistas que en
    forma como de paloma. Luego fue inspirado a ir al desierto y ayunar y
    orar por 40 días. Tampoco se esperaba para nada ser tentado tan
    fuertemente por el demonio. Pero ya tenia la fuerza de la oración y
    el ayuno de 40 días para hacerle frente al “príncipe de este
    mundo” y poder vencerlo. De seguro que durante esos 40 días muchas veces el cielo callaba, pero Jesús seguía atento, esperando, como un buen soldado de su Padre celestial.


    Hay personas que quieren derrotar al demonio y sus tentaciones sin hacer oración, sin hacer ningún sacrificio, sin renunciar a sus pecados. Esto es imposible. No puedes ganarle a un cocodrilo dentro del agua; él está en su ambiente de la misma manera que el diablo está en su casa cuando entra al corazón de una persona que ha aceptado el pecado o ha renunciado a Dios.


    En pocas palabras:

    Cuando Dios nos hace esperar para recibir su respuesta, es porque nos está formando en la fe. Lo que nos toca es al igual que Jesús y
    Francisco, permanecer fieles y deja a Dios ser Dios...
