Show Notes
Notification of Discharge- should be given at least 48 hours prior to discharge
You are your best advocate, call your insurance company to verify benefits. It’s not always easy to navigate on your own, but you can also speak with your medical team because they can offer you some insight into your condition and why they feel discharge is necessary.
At an inpatient facility you should be given your bill of rights which lays out all of your rights as a patient during your stay. Be sure to read all the fine print as it is usually given on day of admission.

We sat down with my friend and artist Robert Dorleans. He gave a lot of insight and perspective into life working in the creative industry and having to pay for health insurance. We briefly outweigh the costs of paying out of pocket for insurance and whether or not its worth it to have a plan that is more inclusive vs one that isn’t. We also talked about the benefits of having a primary care doctor to oversee your care vs going to an urgent care clinic. Robert discusses the differences in his health insurance coverage working in freelance vs a full time position that paid for his insurance.
