In this interlude John pulls back the veil that hides the great battle that is--occurring around us. A spiritual battle between Satan and angels. A battle that exerts forces--upon this world and the people in it, often while we remain unaware.

Jesus came in His first advent declaring that the Kingdom of God was at--hand. Yet at the end of His earthly ministry the disciples were still asking if that kingdom was to--finally be unveiled. For the last two millennia we still wait for that event. In our passage today--we see it finally being declared as taking place. This subject is filled with much misunderstanding--and opinion. John describes that critical moment in history where the kingdom of this age is--swallowed up into the Kingdom of God. This is seen in a thumbnail sense anticipating a later--description that fills in the details.

In this introductory message I attempt to give a broad sense of what is meant by the---kingdom of God- and help set up the importance of this specific passage

Solomon continues in chapter 7 to see if there's any virtue to be found within humanity. He looks to the wisdom of men, as well as personal relationships, to see if there's any solutions to the brokenness of this world. His ultimate, although partial, conclusion is that humanity has its limits. The wisdom of men fall short, and the satisfaction from relationships don't satisfy. Solomon's reason for why there's not much virtue to be found within humanity is because at the core of every person is an idolatrous heart. The Scriptural answer to this brokenness is found only in the Cross of Christ.
