  • BIBLE STUDY—RAISING A GENERATION WHO KNOWS THE LORD
After the two unbelieving priests, Hophni and Phinehas, had led Israel into disobedience and unbelief, God was going to do a new work through the ministry of Samuel. Samuel would lead a generation to believe the Lord and follow him. The generation that followed Hophni and Phinehas into battle died. The generation that followed Samuel into battle had the victory! And even in all of the sin and disobedience of the prior generation, God was working behind the scenes bringing deliverance. Join us!

  • GOD AND GOVERNMENT
The theme of our church this year is: The Kingdom of God. This morning we will be looking at the various governmental jurisdictions God has set up in His world. This Sunday is also “Ascension Sunday.” We celebrate the day when Jesus “was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God” (Mark 16:19). Jesus right now is the King of kings and the Lord of lords (Rev. 1:5; 19:16). What does His reign mean in light of the various family, ecclesiastic, and civil governments of our world? We are citizens of heaven (Phil. 3:20), but we are also citizens of in the country, state, and county we live in. How are we called to be good and honorable citizens in both spheres? Join us!

  • BIBLE STUDY—GOD IS WORKING BEHIND THE SCENES
The prophet and priest, Samuel, is a transitional figure in Scripture. With the beginning of his life Scripture moves from the era of the judges to the era of the prophets and kings. Tonight we will be looking at the first three chapters of 1 Samuel. The story of Eli, Hannah, Samuel, and Eli’s two sons. We will be seeing that God is always at work behind the scenes when all looks bleak. Join us!

It is also a powerful picture of Christ’s love for His Church, and a foreshadow of the nations, people like the Moabitess Ruth, being included in His redemption! Join us!

  • THE KINGDOM OF GOD — BUILDING ON THE ROCK
Jesus ends the sermon on the mount by giving a parable. He says that those who practice the things He has just taught will be like those who build their house on a rock. Those who do not practice the teachings of the sermon will be like those who build their house on sand. When the storms of life come, and they *will* come, only the house that is built on the rock will stand. Only those who have truly “followed” Jesus rather than simply been “amazed” by His teaching will have a secure foundation in life. Join us!

  • THE KINGDOM OF GOD — BEWARE OF FALSE PROPHETS
Jesus has just finished with the ‘meat’ of His sermon. He closes His sermon with warnings about how to identify false prophets and teachers—wolves who would attempt to enter into His sheepfold and devour His precious sheep for profit or notoriety. False teachers who would direct the hearts of His people somewhere else than what He had just taught them about His kingdom. Who would even attempt to dazzle them with signs. Jesus warns us to stay on the narrow path and not be led astray by others.

  • THE KINGDOM OF GOD — THE IMPORTANCE OF PRAYER & THE GOLDEN RULE
Toward the end of the Sermon on the Mount Jesus reiterated the importance of prayer. He declared, “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.” Join us as we dig into why prayer is so important and how we can learn from the prayer life of Jesus to do what He instructed us here in this sermon. Also, we will unpack Christ’s summary of what He had been teaching throughout the sermon, what many call the Golden Rule: “whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them.” Join us!
