Alanis Morissette’s song “Ironic” has often been criticised for the way it misunderstands irony. Our author Luke, though, shows us multiple layers of irony as the authorities seek to quash the message of Jesus - their efforts are almost laughable, because the message of the ‘new covenant in his blood’ is unstoppable.
