SEED reaches beyond the traditional school day and teaches students to thrive in a rigorous academic environment, to be ready for college, and to develop character for lifelong success.

Dr Demetrice Morrison, founder of a non-profit organization that was set up in the aftermath of a hurricane. She learned that her neighbor had no food, so they started collecting food in different areas. They set up temporary shelters for children, and on Friday afternoons, before the children left school, they began to discreetly pack healthy, non-perishable food in a backpack so that they would have enough to eat over the weekend. — Jose Soto from State Farm talks about the toy and clothing drive they organize to give back to the community. They serve elderly neighbors by providing nutritious meals, friendly visits and safety checks right in their homes, delivered by more than 300 volunteers. — Michael Pozo, a graduate of The Caring Place. He was homeless and ill for three years. He found the Mission where his life was saved. He had been involved in drugs since the age of 16. After joining the program, he went back to school to relearn how to read and write. He also learnt computer skills. After graduating, he got his life back on track. He is now a volunteer and donor.

He met Lian Navarro at a meeting at Amazon where she presented The Caring Place's work for the community.
