Tired of silly little love songs- Psalm 45 celebrates God's Love for His Son, God's Love for the Son's Bride, and the love the Son and Bride have for each other. This is true love. Love worth singing about. Love that changes how we live. Love worth dying for.

No one has an excuse to deny God or to disobey His commands. Both God and His law are plainly seen in creation and more clearly in Scripture. David knows this, knows his own sin, and prays to God for help in pursuing holiness in thought, word, and deed.

A fool denies God- denies that He exists- denies that He is active and present in the world. A wise person seeks God, but realizes that is impossible unless God leads us to Himself. Are you a fool, or will you be wise-

Everyone lies. God is truth. Liars oppress, manipulate, control. God hears, rises up, and saves. The tongue is a restless evil, full of deadly poison, but God can revive and restore so that we can speak His truth.

-Our wisdom, insofar as it ought to be deemed true and solid wisdom, consists almost entirely in two parts- the knowledge of God and of ourselves- - John Calvin. Praise God for Psalm 8 that instructs us in this wisdom, and is the cry of a heart that knows itself and knows God.

David begins his day crying out to God to lead him in righteousness, and protect him against his enemies, both other people and his own sin. David's prayer begins with a plea, and ends in praise of God his refuge.

You are either a rebel seeking to break free of God's rule, or one who kisses the Son, submitting to Him in faith and obedience.

Two kinds of people- the blessed righteous, and the wicked. One walks the way of life, the other the way of death. Are you righteous- Wicked- How do you know- This- the righteous live by faith. The righteous know they are wicked, are broken by their wickedness, and turn to the only true solution - the grace of God through Jesus Christ, received by faith.

New sermon series, Divine Soul Music, begins with Psalm 25, where David entrusts his lonely, distressed, afflicted soul to God, confident that God will not let him down, not let him be put to shame. We see the music of David's soul, and learn to sing our own heart song to God, and trust in Him.

-Who is this who even forgives sins-,- asks the crowd around Jesus, as He dines with Simon the Pharisee and His feet are washed by the tears of the sinful woman of the city. Luke has been telling us for seven chapters who He is- God Himself, the Word become flesh to dwell among us.
