Jesus was never meant to be merely discussed in coffee shops. Although people add him to their list of meaningful or meaningless conversations. Even Christians can be heard casually discussing and considering Jesus. As if He’s one topic among many normal topics like food, technology, school, politics or sex.

But Jesus is different, right? He is God in the flesh. He is God. He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords. He cannot be reduced to coffee talk.

He is to be known by us. He is full of glory and majesty. He is Savior and Redeemer. He is kind and compassionate and forgives but He is also ready to return with justice and a swift sword of His Father’s wrath. He is eternally strong yet sympathizes with our weaknesses.

He was not meant to be added as an accessory to our already over-accessorized lives! He is God!

So let’s stop reducing the Good News to casual chit chat for us to ponder. But proclamation that sets captives free, redeems slaves and turns them into sons and daughters, and forgives the greatest of sinners making them friends of Jesus!
