Prince Philip's favorite sister, Princess Cecilie of Greece and Denmark, joined the Nazi Party with her husband in 1937. The couple were travelling to attend the wedding of Louis, Prince of Hesse and by Rhine when their plane crashed in flames, killing all passengers.  It has been debated whether she was giving birth which may have contributed to the tragedy or if she gave birth "mid-crash."
