A new group has been founded with a view to saving the Barwon River Ovoid Sewer Aqueduct from partial demolition. The Friends of Barwon River Ovoid Sewer Aqueduct says that the aqueduct is of extremely high cultural and heritage significance and is one of the finest early-reinforced concrete constructions still extant in Australia. The structure was built in 1913-16, has 14 spans and was designed by Stone and Siddeley with inspirations from the Firth of Forth bridge in Scotland.
