The Ethnic Communities’ Council of Victoria (ECCV) has called on the federal government to reconsider its coronavirus response for temporary migrants. ECCV Chairperson Eddie Micallef, believes the humanitarian and economic costs associated with excluding people on temporary visas in Australia is a serious concern. “The threat to people who are now out of work and can no longer support themselves without any safety net is immediate. ECCV has received reports that migrant communities on temporary visas are in crisis, with the sad recent case of one international student taking their own life as a result of their circumstances,” said Mr Micallef.

Mable and the Federal Government have announced a new partnership to expand the aged care workforce on the platform to both respond to growing demand and to ensure there are no gaps in the aged care workforce due to the COVID-19 crisis. The partnership will also enable approved aged care providers to more easily tap into this expanding workforce to recruit workers in nursing, allied health, personal care, domestic assistance and social support services to ensure continuity of care.
