The Victorian Sport Awards is the night of nights for the Victorian sporting community and this year will celebrate participants, organisers, initiatives and the volunteers behind the scenes from all levels of sport in Victoria. Local volunteer Richard Lawysz from Athletics Victoria is a finalist in the Love the Game Volunteer of the Year award category, and he spoke to the program about his work in local athletics.

Daniel Lamanna, Director at Stockdale & Leggo Drysdale joined the program for his monthly real estate segment. Up for the discussion this month was the end of the moratorium on evictions and the impact on sales and rentals, along with recent changes to the residential tenancy act.

Martin Brooker is a former Naval Commodore and founder of Quench Group. He spoke to the program about the submarine KRI Nanggala-402 which was found at a depth of 850 metres – well beyond its survivable limit of 500 metres.

Nic McGay, Manager, Media and Communications at TAC joined the program to discuss a new campaign that encourages learner and young drivers to build up more experience driving after dark. The campaign warns of the added risk of night-time driving. New research shows that in their first year on the roads, P-plate drivers are seven times more likely to be killed or injured while driving at night than fully licensed drivers. On average, 31 first-year P-platers are killed or seriously injured while driving at night in Victoria each year of approximately 50,000 new drivers annually.
