Geelong marriage celebrant Di Schmidtke spoke to the program about the race of one couple to get married before lockdown. Di was responsible for pulling together Toby and Tayla Lawson’s nuptials within 4 hours. “We conducted the wedding as the sun was setting with only the bridal party, couple and close family gathered in their back yard with fairy lights, cheese, dip and pizza, add a bucket load of love. It’s all you need,” Ms Schmidtke said. Newly-wed Tayla Lawson said that there was concern of the five day lockdown being extended, prompting the couple to reschedule. “We didn’t really think, we just did. As soon as our Celebrant Di Schmidtke, family and bridal party said yes we were like ‘ok let’s do it!’ everything is so uncertain at the moment, you need to be spontaneous I think,” Ms Lawson said.
