July 30, 2020TAC’s annual road safety monitor survey findingsThe TAC’s Manager – Media and Communications Nic McGay spoke to the program about the findings of their annual road safety monitor survey. 1800 road users were surveyed on road user behaviours and attitudes. Some of the key findings include: 50 per cent of respondents reported having driven after drinking alcohol in the past 12 months, but when they believed they were under the legal limit – an increase of two per cent on the previous year. 31% self-report using a mobile phone illegally while driving. 2% admitted to driving after using recreational drugs. 37% had knowingly driven while drowsy. 83% of respondents support centreline barriers as effective road safety infrastructure, while 81% support flexible safety barriers. 9% admitted to speeding at least half the time in a 60km/h zones, and 10% speeding at least half the time in a 100km/h zone.
