A mix of original and reworked 80's disco classics.

The lockdown period has given everyone extra time on their hands. I thought it was about time to sort through all the boxes of music sitting around the house. Inside one I stubbled across a black cd marked “Junk Funk”. On the disc we’re 2 mixes myself and James recorded as young budding djs to send out to clubs with the hope someone would listen and give us a gig.

The date of the recording is hazy but the tracks in the mix time stamp it sometime around 2005. On it you will hear tracks we were into at the time alongside classic records which we were discovering for the first time. You can also hear an early incarnation of the genre mashing Beat Throwdown sets we play today. Some of the recording is a bit sketchy but remember this was done with 20 year old recording equipment, back in the days when making a mixtape required you using a cassette!

Both sides of the mixtape are included here for you to enjoy.
