We just migrated to a new email autoresponder. I’ve been using MailChimp for years (still am for some things) but we just moved almost ALL of our autoresponders and campaigns to Actionetics within ClickFunnels to keep everything under one roof. Actionetics is definitely more clunky than MailChimp but it already has features that MailChimp doesn’t and it’s only 3 years old.

Well, we had to import a bunch of our lists into Actionetics. When we did that, a good portion of my old team also got imported… whoops.

Which means they received the past two emails. Nice.

Normally that wouldn’t matter. I mean communication is a good thing right? Yes. Except when you’re trying to protect them…

See, what we teach in MLM Rebels goes VERY against the grain of how my old team builds the business. And even though I never, ever want to build a business like them again, Ashley and I have amazing friends still in Amway and that team. And we want them to succeed at the highest level at what they’re doing.

Well, how to you destroy a strong army? Not from the outside.

From inside.

Cause confusion. The greatest wars are never fought.

Well a bunch of them received an email with the MLM Rebels podcast embedded within it. Where we literally reveal how we recruit more people in a day than most of them can in a few months. Crap.

Thankfully the damage was fairly minimal (so far) - As most people on the list were bigger leaders. Those that won't be as easily shaken as they have a lot to lose and are strong in their conviction. We're praying it stays that way...

On a positive note, there were also a few people on there that are no longer active in that team because they didn’t believe in the business model. They heard the Rebels podcast and felt set free. So, if we helped set a couple people free, it’s worth it.

Being a good leader and a good marketer are completely different skills. There is a reason that every “online marketer” who has tried their hand at MLM generally builds a huge team initially and then are never heard from again. Why?

Because they’re marketers, not leaders.

On the flip side you can find teams of people with INCREDIBLE leadership skills but with atrocious recruiting and marketing abilities. (Think hotel & home meetings, postin’ and prayin’ on Facebook, Instagram stalking and the like.)

This is the type of team I came from back in the day. The team is literally second to none in terms of communication ability, stage presence, creating the “want” in someone and creating heartstrings among people that couldn’t be broken with a nuclear warhead.

Problem is. They fell into the stalking Walmart, calling grandma and sending out flyers camp.

Needless to say, compared to a real marketer, they didn’t stand a chance in the recruiting game. Still don’t.

But retention. Creating a team atmosphere. Creating a cult-ure. Geez, these people know what they’re doing.

You need BOTH of these to succeed at the highest level in MLM.

With that being said, since the “marketing” side of things has been our primary focus in MLM Rebels, today, Ashley and I are starting a “Leadership Monday” episode each week, to ensure you’re getting BOTH sides of the equation. And this today, we’ll be covering the basics of leadership:
