At UFC 318, Max Holloway finally got a win over decade-long rival Dustin Poirier, and remains the BMF Champion, while Poirier himself got to ride into the sunset in his own hometown. All in all, it was a good night of fights, and we discuss all of the results in the first half of this week's show.
Then in the second half of the show we preview the upcoming UFC on ABC: Whittaker vs. de Ridder, and take a look at the week in MMA news.
Catch us Wednesday nights at 6:30pm on CFMU 93.3 FM, and online at http://www.thehammermma.com, The Itunes Store, MMAPodcast.com, Player.FM, find @SteveJeffery on Twitter or just email us.
Max Holloway did exactly what he promise — he spoiled the retirement fight of Dustin Poirier in front of Poirier's home crowd in New Orleans as he retained the BMF title in the main event of UFC 318 on Saturday night. After becoming the first to successfully defend that title, where does "Blessed" go in the UFC's lightweight division?
Following the pay-per-view event, MMA Fighting's Mike Heck and Alexander K. Lee discuss what's next for Holloway following his decision win over Poirier. Additionally, future matchups are discussed for Paulo Costa after his lopsided decision win over Roman Kopylov in the co-main event, Daniel Rodriguez following his win over Kevin Holland in one of the craziest fights of 2025 thus far, along with fellow main card winners Patricio Pitbull, Michael Johnson, and more.

UFC 318 gave us lots of tremendous moments, starting with six finishes. That’s right, folks, the first six fights were all finishes. As a matter of fact, they would be the only finishes, too, as the next eight went to decision. We had some real bangers though, leading from the top with Poirier-Holloway. What a scrap, but it would be Holloway leaving with his arm raised. The tribute to Dustin was well-done and had many in the arena crying, and even some outside the arena.
Other notable bouts were Kevin Holland’s battle with Daniel Rodriguez, which saw both men nearly finished, but it would be D-Rod clinching the victory. Paulo Costa looked great against Kopylov, which wasn’t hard to do since Roman seemed to get his gameplan from his mom, because he looked awful and didn’t come alive until late in the third. Patricio Pitbull captured his first victory inside the octagon with a solid win over Dan Ige. Wish he could’ve gotten to the UFC before his prime was spent, but he got the W, and that’s what counts.
Now, let’s check out the rest of the results and bonuses while we’re here.
