I look here at (1) the Father’s attitude towards the killing or murder of Yeshua, (2) the salvation sermons preached by a primary Apostle of Yeshua [Peter], (3) and some objections given to my view based upon Isaiah 53 and Matthew 27. There’s a ton of info in this lesson, so get your Bible out and follow closely. 

Here I present the older view of the atonement: Ransom + Christus Victor. There was a cosmic battle between Yahweh and Satan, and it had to do with Satan being the deceiver back in the Garden of Eden. Listen to learn how the death of Yeshua actually does pay the price for our sins.

Was Yeshua a ritual sacrifice to Yahweh in the same way the animal sacrifices were? Have you ever given it any thought? Sometimes Genesis 22 is used to support this view (or one similar), but are we reading it properly? This lesson calls us to stretch our minds spiritually and not grumble and dismiss something just because we don’t feel like changing our understanding. 

I cover some background of why we need reconciliation with the Almighty, and then I walk through some verses in John 10 about Yeshua’s role as the good shepherd. This is the intro lesson to a series about correctly understanding what Yeshua did on the cross, sometimes called “atonement theory.” 

We are admonished by the Apostle Paul to think on true, honorable, just, and pure things. Many today entertain the exact opposite, even to the point of falsely accusing people, or concocting the most fanciful idea inside their mind without any facts. This lesson is a strong warning to heed the true and reject all else.

There is so much missed in Acts 2:2-4 because we don’t understand things in a first century Israeli context. What exactly were the “tongues of fire,” and why would all the Israelites attending need to hear about the Almighty in their own dialect when they had already been hearing it for years in Hebrew? This lesson also begins to show that the “speaking in tongues” was not unintelligible babble or gibberish.

Kidnapping, at first look, seems like something we don’t have to deal with, but just a little bit of research will show that children are being abducted on a much larger scale than we think. May we guard the lives of our children, and be aware of our surroundings even as adults. I also deal with the subject of war conquest and the taking of spoils, and I look at a parallel statement Yeshua made to Deuteronomy 20.

Honor to one’s parents is paramount in Scripture, so much so that there are things you can do (or not do) towards them that warrant the death penalty. I cover Yeshua giving us inspired commentary on what it means to honor mom and dad, and I also deal with the oft repeated falsehood that “the Bible teaches to stone disobedient children.”

Before we understand what took place in Acts 2, we need to understand what Pentecost is and how important it was to Hebrews (Israelites) in the first century A.D.

After Judas defected there was an empty place for an apostle filled by Matthias. How did the remaining 11 apostles choose who would fill the place? Was there criteria?
