I am back with another episode. Lately, there have been things happening around the world that has gotten me in my feelings- which is a place I don't like to frequent too often. As Congress is debating the Build Back Better Plan, I feel that some components of this plan definitely should be revisited, especially with the idea of offering the migrant families that were separated from one another under the Trump administration $450,000 each. In "The Shake Up," I talk about how Mobilians are negatively affecting the city and that we, as a whole, need to get it together. For the "Mobile Spotlight," I give recognition to The Historic Avenue Foundation/Fuse Project for its efforts to protect one of the prominent African-American communities in the City of Mobile.
Songs featured in this episode are "They Don't Care About Us" by Michael Jackson, "Take Care" by Drake f/Rihanna, and "Sweep Around Your Own Front Door" by The Williams Brothers.
After another hiatus, I am back with a new season. This season I decided to do a little makeover to the Podcast. Starting things off with "The Shake Up," I focus on a cultural influence of the Port City that has grown tremendously- Loda's Art Walk. Then, I get into the meat of the episode. It's only right that I give my perspective of what America is supposed to be since people are celebrating the "founding" of a land that was already inhabited by the natives. Finally, I close things out with the Mobile Spotlight.
Thanks for tuning in to Mobilennials, where things get shaken up Socially, Culturally, and Politically!

Freedom Day. Emancipation Day. Juneteenth. Whatever you want to call it, let's celebrate! Port City celebrations were canceled/postponed due to the potential threat of TS Claudette. That couldn't stop what today is all about! Listen as I give my personal views of Juneteenth, the newly adopted Federal Holiday (for the rest of America); discuss the threat of masking the Critical Race Theory, and drop some historical nuggets about the holiday.
Song: "I'm Black Y'all" by Snap Turner
It's graduation season! Many are celebrating the beginning of their future. With life being so full of unexpectancies, this episode offers some tips for the graduates. Not to leave behind those of us that are just handling this thing called life, there are some things that we must we continue to graduate from.
It's been nearly a month, and I am back!!! I promise not to stay away like that anymore, especially with me missing being behind the mic.
As outside is opening back up, there are many things that are happening. This episode, I reflect on what it was like a year ago being inside and how I coped with everything. Now that outside is back open there are a lot of things that I am looking forward to, but it seems as if this pipeline attack is trying to put a stop to everything. Alabama's Gov. Kay Ivey has announced that the federal funded unemployment benefits will end next month, so people will have to return to work - some for less pay than what they are receiving from these benefits. In honor of sliding into summer, I have to talk about RHOA's Porsha Williams sliding into the arms of Simon...just under a month of Falyn and his divorce announcement. This episode's Mobile Spotligh goes to Charles Henderson, owner of Finishline Lawn Maintenance, LLC.
Things are starting to heat up!
This week I'm back after taking a week off to celebrate Easter and a much needed Spring Break! In the spirit of Spring, it's a time for regrowth and rejuvenation. During the spring we welcome new things in our lives and get rid of the old things, or even just spruce them up. This episode is a "spring cleaning." Opening and closing with traditional "clean up music" in the black community, I focus on cleaning not only our homes, but also different aspects of our lives.
Sister, Sister!!! Or in my case, sisters! Episode 9 is all about my sisters! We call ourselves the Four Rai's. Yes, our mom was creative with our names; and in order, we are RaiKesha, Raila, Raiven, and RaiTimberly. Growing up with sisters is like a roller coaster ride- there is always some entertainment. This episode is a reflection of how we are with each other and there is never a dull moment. Listen as we reveal our thoughts of each other and how we feel about sisterhood. After all, having a sister is having someone in your life that you can't get rid of (even if you try, lol).
What is it like being a millennial black woman? Since it is National Women's History Month, I decided to make this episode about the black woman and the various societal issues that we face. Listen as I give my perspective of what it is like being a black woman and the various issues that we have to face. Also, check out the Mobile Spotlight for the week as I recognize one of my classmates, who I view as a strong, independent black woman out here making things happen.
Episode 7 is all about letting it go. There are things in life that we have to simply let go and don't go back after them. I am joined with Mobile's own, Roland Foster and Afiya K. The first half we discuss various things that we have let go. The second half Roland kicks us off with some great advice about letting things go that have happened a long time ago. We also play a game, "One Gotta Go: The Culture Pack." There were times when we were stumped, but we had to put someone or something on the chopping block. The last round we made it Mobile Style, but we could only keep one (talking about tough decisions)!
