Episode 10: Mobilizing Internal and External Resources For Resilience with Founder of I AM RESILIENT., Nikita Paddock
“The world needs more unconditional loving connection”- Nikita Paddock
In this episode, The Founder of I AM RESILIENT., shares her history, insights, and stories of resilience. Although it contains sensitive information, the vulnerability enables deep insight into the importance of resilience practices and the intimacy of the I AM RESILIENT. Movement.
I AM RESILIENT. is fully owned by Nikita Paddock, a humanitarian and entrepreneur. Prior to starting I AM RESILIENT., she explored universities, communities, nations, cultures, and various corners of the world to learn about resilience practices. After working as a nurse in neurosciences, she gained an understanding of the brain’s ability to change and be resilient, which resulted in resilience in one’s life. Nikita taught workshops, yoga, and mindfulness for universities, and healthcare centers to promote resilience in students, faculty, and healthcare providers. She went on to work in public health gaining experience in small nonprofits, private businesses, community enterprises, regional health authorities, provincial and national organizations, and global corporations. These included wellness promotion, family health, pre/postpartum/ infant health, comprehensive school health, mental health, and suicide prevention. While gathering data on her employment and volunteerism, Nikita identified an important gap in our modern western culture, which she is using I AM RESILIENT. as a tool to fill. This gap is caused by the lack of education and actionable tools to promote resilience around the world. During the 2019 global pandemic, Nikita began publishing the I AM RESILIENT. Journals, which include scientifically proven prompts for resilience and well-being. She delivered these to healthcare providers, neighborhood libraries, and eventually elementary and middle schools. Nikita continues to receive feedback by email with personal stories of resilience claiming that the journals were life-saving. In 2020, I AM RESILIENT. The podcast was started to promote resilience education sharing and has received positive feedback from listeners including professionals in the counseling and nursing education professions. I AM RESILIENT. continued to grow by offering corporate yoga, mindfulness, and courses on Resilience University.
