Jazz has always played a big part of the mod lifestyle, indeed it was arguably the founding sound of the original mods. Over the years R&B, soul, power pop and other musical styles have become even more dominant in some ways. But elements of jazz always have been and always will be a mainstay of mods the world over. I'm not a deep jazz cat by any means, but I like jazz. I've got lots of jazz favorites like from the early stuff like Louis Armstrong, John Coltrane, and Count Basie, and of course all the various flavors of mod jazz from Jimmy Smith, Chico Hamilton, Miles Davis, and so on. So, this week I'm veering a little more contemporary with more modern mod friendly jazz acts.
