Modded SNES mini (11/04/2018)

Listen Later

Back in early 2018, I got my hands on a Nintendo NES and SNES mini. I learned that one could add extra games/roms to the devices, using a special made app. I was a bit insecure about doing it, but I followed the instructions step by step, and I managed to add several games. I then tried to take a little video with my phone from the TV screen, showing some of the games that were/are now on the SNES mini system.

Alt text for the video:

A video recording of a TV screen displaying the bright, retro-themed main menu of a modified Super Nintendo Classic Edition (SNES mini). The user is actively scrolling left and right through a large, customized carousel of 16-bit game box arts. Because a significant number of extra ROMs have been added beyond the console's original lineup, the interface features custom light-blue folder icons (with split-letter names like "HAR - SCO," "SEC - YOS," and "ANI - GOO") to help organize the expanded library. The screen occasionally fades to black for a brief moment as the user clicks into and backs out of these different directory folders to browse.
During the scroll, a huge variety of classic SNES titles can be seen sliding past, including Batman Returns, Castlevania - Dracula X, Civilization, Demolition Man, Doom, Final Fantasy V, Harvest Moon, The Lion King, Mortal Kombat, SimCity, Spider-Man, Super Mario All-Stars, and Tetris Attack, among dozens of others. The bottom of the screen displays the standard UI elements: the classic "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" logo on the left, a miniature scrolling timeline of the game boxes, and button prompts for "Menu," "Suspend Point List," "Sort," and "Start Game."
