We are all monkeys using our entire hand to do everything

Learn to use one finger at a time while the others are holding tension

Running the gun at reset

Learn where reset is

Dry practice at reset

Hard with multiple guns

Use only pressure that is necessary to break the trigger

Only use the pressure necessary

Use the dry wall drill again

Be able to sweep through the trigger without moving the sights from start to finish

Then once you can do that out of the trigger to the reset point instantly

Distances and Thoughts

Point Blank: 3 yards and in – Hits on target and how fast can you go

Short Distances: 3-7 Yards – Cadence becomes what’s important to make hits

Intermediate Distances: 7-20 Yards – Front sight focus or seeing th sights where they need to be

Long Distances: 20-100 Yards – I still use interrupted trigger control. I want to be able to sweep through the trigger

Extreme Distances: 100-300 Yards – Need reset and master the bigginner trigger

My Father, Bryant Martin Branam has the rifle he first bought.  He handed it down to me about 5 years ago so I could teach my son how to shoot on it.  A great way to start with youth and to keep them in it for a while.  My son, now 7, wants to outgrow it already.  He wants to shoot my AR more then the .22 already.

My father bought this rifle from Montgomery-Wards back in the early 60’s.  It’s so old it doesn’t have a serial number.  He walked into the department store with his mother (in a wheel chair at the time) and walked out with a rifle.  “The good old days.”

I fired my first round out this .22.  I wish I could say I made the hit and that I haven’t missed since, but… You know how that goes.

I hope this inspires you to find that small thing you can pass down and create or keep a tradition going.  Whatever it is, take the time to film it and save that file ever where so that in the future your children’s children can see who you were.

It’s easy to test, just profile someone

A guy smoking a cigarette outside a Walmart in the dark

DO you run into people or things when you are out?
