Episode 32 welcomes back https://soundcloud.com/urbanexploration, with this tremendous live hardware set, using Elektron machines. This really was a marvel to behold. Recorded at the Boxjam festival in Leeds, 12.10.19.

www.boxjam.org.uk

www.boxjam.org.uk/profile/urban-exploration

Info:

Urban Exploration are a loose collective of techno producers and DJs, noise makers and visual artists, who have been working together in the studio since 2011.

Their audiovisual work is often improvised and makes use of field recordings and photographs taken exploring abandoned and neglected parts of the city.

The group have recently released a trilogy of albums on their own record label, Crooked Acres, which has received plaudits from The Wire magazine. Boxjam is a very rare opportunity to see UE perform live.

Episode 31 brings you this quality vinyl DJ set from York's own https://soundcloud.com/perseus-traxx. Recorded at the Boxjam festival in Leeds, 12.10.19.

www.boxjam.org.uk

www.boxjam.org.uk/profile/perseus-traxx

Info:

Perseus Traxx is one of a number of different projects and aliases born from differing themes and ideas, be they mythological, fantastical, conspiratorial or otherwise. Others include, but are not limited to: Northern Powerhouse, Nite Vision, Orpheus, Sir Leon Greg, Operator Tracey, Scandalous Arthur, Orpheus, Ellis de Havilland and Vulcano.

I self release music and communicate with people and since doing that a range of quality labels has had faith in what I do, enough to make the gamble of releasing my music in a physical format. Such labels include Den Hague’s legendary Bunker, as well as M>O>S and BOE Recordings. Have a look on Discogs if you’re interested in reading a list of what I’ve done, the cross referencing and digging potential of the site, to allow discovery of artists, labels and releases, is something I actively encourage. Curiosity often pays off and an active approach is far superior to waiting around to be fed information.

There’s no point saying what is coming up release-wise as that acts as more of a jinx for getting things released, especially when people sit on music and do nothing. This is why I do things at a quick pace with Alex Handley and our Northern Powerhouse project. A record CAN still be turned around in a few weeks, and I heartily recommend communication and a D.I.Y attitude.

For the next instalment in the Modulations Live series, episode 27 comes from West Yorkshire selectors, John+Roland. Recorded at the Boxjam festival in Leeds, 12.10.19.

www.boxjam.org.uk

https://www.boxjam.org.uk/profile/john-and-roland

Info:

John met Roland in a pub car park in Leeds. On that very same day, they proceeded to rip Scarborough a new one.

Since then they have gone on to moan about all kinds of stuff, and in Roland’s case, spill vodka on things that don’t belong to him. Musically they both like breakbeats, wobbly basslines and everything in and around and in-between.
