As the son of Nigerian immigrants, he tells that he was taught to keep pushing to achieve more. To be purposefully ambitious, and to never become complacent. When Dr. Sanaa Jaman first began pursuing her PdD at the University of Florida, she never thought that one day she would turn into a full time yoga instructor, brand, and that she wouldn't formally use her PhD. In fact, when she initially got into yoga, she used yoga as a way to gain inner peace, to challenge herself physically as well as mentally. Fast forward to today and Sanaa aka LadyDork is one of the most well recognized yoga brands and just completed another successful Dorktour, where she goes across the country teaching Yoga to her clients.

What is A Perfect Gentleman? That is the question that Berto Horne set out to answer when he was a student on the campus of Morehouse College a few years back. In his journey in finding the answer to that question, he was able to turn the answers he found into his own personal brand, and eventually into a business. Now at the young age of 24, Berto is a Manager at Coca-Cola in Atlanta all while successfully running his brand and business "The Perfect Gentleman."
On this week's episode we delve into how Berto came up with the concept of the Perfect Gentleman, and how he eventually turned it into a profitable business working with brands such as the Mercedes Business Dome and other large companies. Janet LaBreck is the a federal appointee by President Obama. The former Commissioner of the Rehabilitation Services Administration. And owner of multiple businesses.
But if you would have met her during her childhood, you would have wondered if she would have been able to accomplish what she has in her life.
At a very young age Janet's teachers began to notice that she was having trouble seeing the board at school. Her parents eventually took her to get her, and her siblings eyes checked, and learned that they had a congential eye disease. Janet learned that she would eventually go completely blind, and she did.
Janet had to deal with bullying, and the realization that she would never regain her eyesight. And she had a choice to make about that attitude she would adopt regarding her condition, and her life moving forward.

It's not everyday that you get to sit down and have a candid conversation with an Olympic Gold medalist in track. Mel Pender competed in some of the most tumultuous times in this country's history. He had to fight racism, discrimination, ageism (he was considered past his prime when he qualified for the Olympics) all while being a part of the military, to eventually become a gold medalist. But first he had to look within to find the strength to get past all of the negativity that was facing him.
Mel takes us through his story, and how every where he looked he could have found a reason to give up, but he didn't. And why you can never give up either.
