Sabbathing SOULjourners, it's our 100th episode! We will celebrate by choosing to pause + welcome the first week of Advent. HOPE in The Story of Tamar (Genesis 38). She is a vision of audacious hope, a hope associated with living waters (mikveh). Visit the ADVENT page.
Genesis 38:26: Judah recognized them and said, “She is more righteous [tsadik] than I, since I wouldn’t give her to my son Shelah.” And he did not sleep with her again.
tsadik (saw'deek), in Hebrew, means "justice" or "righteous"

Pause Parishioners, welcome to the Write Your Soul Care Narrative course, a FREE 10-day course. This is a reboot episode of Day 7 from December 31, 2019.
Today's invitation is to pay close attention to two outcomes:
1. the short-term outcome of creativity's invitation + intervention in our story. This could be a shift in your attitude (orthodoxy), your feeling (orthopathy), or your behavior (orthopraxy).
2. the long-term outcome "outcome"... And because of that' short-term outcome, you not only become a willing recipient, you become a willing conduit of something transformative and sustaining. In your journaling guide, you'll turn this part of your narrative into a manifesto—a declaration of your God-given vision (the type of world that you dream about + long to create). Begin your manifesto with, "I will..."
Remember, you are more than your writing + speaking. You are a human, a multifaceted soul. Together let's pay attention to our soul care narrative from the inside out. I am here to awaken + guide you to notice, nurture, and embody the art + activism of soul care.

Sabbathing SOULjourners, welcome to the Write Your Soul Care Narrative course, a FREE 10-day course. This is the reboot of Day 5 of your Soul Care Narrative from 2019. Today's invitation is to be attentive to what your context reveals about your antagonist.
By context, we're looking at the inhospitable life circumstances, which form the setting for our soul care narrative. Let's be attentive to who or what is the primary adversarial agent in our stories. No matter your opposition, you are an agent of change.
Remember, you are more than your writing + speaking. You are a human, a multifaceted soul. Together let's pay attention to our soul care narrative from the inside out. I am here to awaken + guide you to notice, nurture, and embody the art and activism of soul care.

SOULjouners, didya know that today is World Menopause Day (October 18th)? And it's Menopause Awareness Month. Before you tune me out because you think you're far from menopause — think again, sis... menopause is your/our unfolding hormonal journey and how you/we proactively plan + prepare in our 20s, 30s, and 40s will greatly reduce the reactionary mayhem.
We get to remove the stigma + shame of menopause and normalize talking about it cross-generationally as a new emergence of our feminine ancestral legacy peeks.
There's encouragement as we notice + nurture + embody a more hospitable perception + reception of this natural phase of feminine, life shifts—in our bodies, our esteem, our emotions, our scribblings, our speaking, our stories, our sacred belonging.
Of course, everyone experiences menopause transition differently and many people struggle to find helpful information about where to get help or how best to manage — or simply validate — their own experience — and what works for one, may not work for anotha...but sometimes it might.

Pause Parishioners, now that you have scribbled out your soul care narrative, let's take a closer look at your protagonist(s)—who is for your good, who is advocating for your well-being? In your story, make sure you include yourself as a protagonist because you are also an agent of good (tov) and transformation.
A word about the inner critic:
SOULjourner, don't discount yourself as a protagonist due to your inner critic.
Did you know that even your inner critic is for you? Yes, you heard me—she is trying to warn you and keep you safe. Her voice has been shaped by your experiences + pain. Her focus is on the part of your story she longs to protect.
She gets scared and anxious when you step out to do hard and vulnerable things. If her ways and words are followed, they will keep you from true connection and the fellowship of radical love.
Instead of ignoring her or silencing her, listen deeply and respond with grace, "Yes, I might get hurt, I might get rejected, I might be new to this, I might get it wrong, but we are more than our pain. I am free to courageously dare to encounter joy + deepen my roots as I experience God's steadfast and unswerving love for me even here." This is the affirmation of a protagonist.
