Perhaps you are ready to start exercising after baby but are worried that increasing your physical activity will decrease your milk supply. 🍼
But if your milk supply decreases when you start exercising, it probably isn’t because you started exercising. Here are some reasons your milk supply might dip once you start exercising that can be fixed without giving up on exercise!
👶🏻 It is really important that you are eating enough to support breastfeeding AND exercise. For a mom that is exercising 3-5 days per week and exclusively breastfeeding, this could be anywhere between 2200-2700 calories per day depending upon your needs and goals!
👶🏻 As you exercise and start sweating more, you HAVE to increase your fluid intake. Your fluid needs are already high in order to produce breastmilk and increase even further once you add in exercise.
👶🏻 Is the type of exercise you are doing putting more stress on your body, which in turn is negatively impacting your supply? My favorite form of exercise for postpartum moms is strength training and walking!
