Often times things that we expect to happen don't always pan out that way. Having a baby at the hospital is no different. Delivering a baby is romanticized in movies and tv shows, but we get into some nitty gritty details Hollywood doesn't tell you about.

 Covid-19 has definitely made some of our plans and expectations pivot in a completely different direction. 

How has the pandemic affected your plans? What was your expectation vs. reality scenario for hospital delivery? 

By happenstance, both of us are in mixed marriages - we are of different heritage from our husbands. Living in Canada provides an amazing opportunity to meet people of all walks of life but when you make that person your partner, it tends to come with some very important negotiations and compromises. We discuss how we've navigated such crucial topics as religion, expectations, personal beliefs, etc.

Being a mom isn't always about perfect Instagram posts and having it all together all the time. Having children changes absolutely everything and that can be difficult to navigate for even the most adaptable individuals. For some, hormones have wreaked havoc on their bodies and manifested into such things at Post Partum Depression, Anxiety, and Intrusive Thoughts - just to name a few. While breaking the stigma of mental illness is making a mark on our society, we are still so far from being okay with helping moms feel safe to talk openly about their postpartum mental health journey.
