“Hahaha your mother would have loved this!” said my dad one night in December as we all sat in the living room watching our favorite Christmas movies.

He said this every single year.

My name is Sammy and I live with my dad, stepmom and sister Michelle.

When I was five years old and Michelle was three, something happened to our family that would change us forever.

I didn’t really remember much about my mom. I know she was kind and she always read us stories before bed. She made us our favorite meals and always said nice things to us. But as time went by I was beginning to forget what she looked like.

My dad loved my mom. I remember that they were always hugging or joking with each other. Our house was filled with happiness.
