Mom, You Can Take a Break

Today’s episode is called: “Do It On Purpose” In this episode you will meet Chantelle, a licensed Therapist and mom to two teenage boys. Chantelle shares how self care was out of sight and out of mind when she first embarked on her mommy journey.  Fast forward to today, she shares how she is very purposeful and intentional about planning her self care moments and how moms are killing our own batteries with so many apps open in the proverbial mommy cell phone.  Enjoy      After the realization that there was no blueprint to this mommy thing, Chantelle decided to focus on creating her own mommy reality balancing work and raising her boys.  Self care was out of sight out of mind for Chantelle.  Fast forward to today, she shares how she is very purposeful and intentional about planning her self care moments since she has older children.  Chantelle also introduces the visualization of a “Mommy Cell Phone” having a ton of apps powering down our own battery not proactively managing our own expectations about what we can reasonably get done. Moms are great at extending grace to their children, their significant others, but often forget the most important person: their self. 

    Today’s episode is called: “No Is A Complete Sentencel” In this episode you will meet Cara, a single working mom of a 2 boys. Cara was so candid with her mommy journey and how a serious health scare really propelled into daily intention about her self care and not taking any chances to look back. She works hard as a career woman and mompreneur but will not do anything that sacrifices her daily self care.   Cara was not expecting to become a Mom when she became a mom.  It was the last thing on her radar when she learned she was pregnant in her early 20s. While coming to terms with her new reality she also had a significant health scare triggering her to realign her priorities to make sure she was at the top of her to do list.  She has made self care her new religion and wants other Moms to join her.  From daily meditation to her own personal ritual of a Godess bath.  Cara makes sure she fills her cup before pouring into anyone elses each day.   She works hard to choose sanity over success and the hustle to ensure she is living out her God given talents.   This includes saying “No” to say anymore than that. 

Today’s episode is called: “Working Through Working Moms Guilt” In this episode you will meet Dr. Michelle Meeks, physician, entrepreneur, wife and mom to two teenage boys.  Michelle shares how she had to work through her working mom guilt in the beginning of her mommy journey to ensure she did what she needed to do to take care of herself.

Today’s episode is called: "Rediscovering Pre-Mommy You” In this episode you will meet Sabrina, working mom of a 5 year old daughter. Sabrina shares a very candid portrayal of her first year of being a mom, why our moms didn’t take mommy breaks, and how she is committed to rediscovering “Pre-Mommy Sabrina”.     Show Notes Sabrina was not necessarily prepared for what motherhood would bring which resulted in a very bumpy first year.  She was unhappy with her 9 to 5 and thought transitioning to being a stay at home mom would bring her balance only to cause greater stress with taking care of a baby,  and managing the household to address the self inflicted burden of “making her keep”.   We discussed the prominence of self care in today’s mommy dialogue and the absence of it when our moms were raising us.  We closed this awesome  conversation talking about the importance of getting back to who we were as WOMEN before we were moms, socially, emotionally, and mentally so that our daughters will know us not only as fantastic moms but pretty amazing women as well.
