  • Moments with JESSE

From a self-described "not nice atheist" to having a sudden and all-encompassing spiritual awakening into "The Sea of All Self" at an early age, Jesse's journey through adulthood has been both tragic and joyful! His rapid ascension and transformation brought with it a certain level of persecution and even "treatments" for simply sharing the light and joy he had experienced in "Samadhi."

From my first meeting with Jesse years ago, I sensed a palpable peace and equanimity in his presence. In this episode, Jesse shares his unique path to becoming the man he is today. Although some of the terms and concepts he mentions may be unfamiliar, his story is one of a mystical and open hearted man who exemplifies how to, "be strong and be yourself, to know your boundaries, to just believe in yourself and do it!"

  • Moments with SEAN

"Curiosity is the antidote for shame."

At a point, something's got to give. Reaching that point for SEAN made him curious about the trauma and conditioning that trained him to be something he's not. Seeking answers and ways of sifting through years of accumulated experiences and emotions, he worked with "non-mainstream" teachers and modalities that supported a break-through of consciousness and ways to gain agency over the troubling patterns of his life. He shares with us the importance of taking risks and developing the courage to trust himself to become the noble father, husband, son and brother he is today.

In his work as a trauma-attuned practitioner of somatic awareness & process he brings a full-spectrum approach of body, mind and spirit to helping other men make the journey home to Self. Find out more about SEAN and the retreats, workshop, groups and one-on-one coaching he offers:

  • Moments with GEOF - Part 2

"What about just being a kid?" ...

GEOF & I continue our contemplation & conversation in Part 2 of "Moments with GEOF" as we discuss the integral pieces that go into building a man of strength, honor, integrity and kindness, including lightbulb moment of realizing how extremely important the "feeling function" is to mental and physical health, safety and the ability to grow and adapt.

"Everything you choose gets you where you need to go." What are you choosing on your way to becoming the man you want to be?

Listen to more of Geof's meaningful experience and deep wisdom ...

Also hear his father's take on becoming a man in "Moments with GENE"

  • Moments with GEOF - Part 1

"A real man isn't oppressive; a real man doesn't tell you what you should think."

Foundational lessons on the field and in the family were integral in Geof becoming the man he is today. Gaining skills, making mistakes and building confidence in the structure of supportive teams and a loving family has provided so much more than merely an excellent level of athleticism.

Geof's father is a previous guest on Moments with GENE by @Lizzie Moon · Zencastr so I was excited to hear how the values that GENE talked about showed up in my discussion with GEOF. It's easy to understand why his expression of masculinity include kindness and the ability to deeply listen.

Listen in to hear what else he has to say in this Part 1 of our rich, thoughtful discussion.

  • Moments with JAMES

"Every man has a little cocky in him!"

James' story of growing up in the same small town as me is a true example of the saying, "hard times make strong people." Many facets of his personal environment were difficult and in our hot, humid summers (with only landline phones) it took quite a bit of effort and independence and a lot of sweat to meet up with close friends that were a lifeline for his soul.

The strength he gained in hard times gave him the desire to challenge himself and to do "harder things." Then a crucial juncture allowed him to tap into his innate leadership qualities and to commit to giving that strength direction and purpose.

James gives us a true hero's saga ... one in which the hero gains his strength "in battle" and becomes a vital, respected, and humble leader, protector, provider to his family and community and to all his relations.

  • Moments with JOHN

"C'mon, men ... live in your truth! Be real, get real! Own what the heck is happening in your life. (And women), let's be in empowerment together."

My personal friend, mentor, and teacher, and world-renowned sound journeyman, and fellow shamanic astrologer, John Dumas shares his experience of a time in his life of intense anger and frustration that led to a weekend on a mountaintop to begin the process of redefining his ideas of what it meant to "be a man."

His passion and en-COURAGE-ment to live and to help others live in their true authenticity, in integrity and in gratitude invites us all to first treat ourselves with the same unconditional love we want our children to receive, and that we want to receive from others.

I truly feel and appreciate the frequency of unconditional love when I'm in John's and his partner, Ako's, presence. In this episode, John shares his journey and the courage it takes to "be a man" and be vulnerable and live from the heart at the same time.

  • Moments with EMITT

"What it means to be a man is having sexual independence."

Yes, we're talking about sex! Emitt Dubé shares his personal journey to understanding and balancing his own physical, sexual, emotional, mental and spiritual energy.

Raised by his single mother in a male-dominated, French-Canadian culture his route to becoming aware of his own "inner" life was not a normal one. These experiences gave Emitt a deep and enlightening perspective of the development and evolution of masculine and feminine energies over time and changing roles for men & women today.

  • Moments with SETH DUVAL

A chance meeting in a local bookstore lead to a very insightful discussion with Seth about his experience of being a "small" man in a land of giants. His giant heart is revealed in his spoken and written words that he shares with us. I was deeply moved in this revelatory conversation as Seth helps me realize a new perspective of a man's experience ...
