As mom it’s likely at one time or another you may have lost your cool with your kids and said things you later felt bad about. I don’t think any mom should beat herself up about any regretful interactions instead I'd like to encourage you. If you do feel that way know that you can make it right with your kids by asking their forgiveness along with Gods. His grace is sufficient.    

In the throws of motherhood it is easy for harmful phrases to slip of the tongue. Today we are going to talk about a few that you may have heard or even said to your kids. I will talk about better ways we can respond to our children that will build them up instead of tear them down.

If we want to build our children up in the love and ways of the Lord we must learn to control our tongue. There are many things we say while in the everyday chaos of motherhood that hurt our children even if it's unintentional. Let's look at what some of those things are and how we can change that.

We live in a time where parents think it’s cruel to correct or discipline their children. They think it is harsh and unfair to give them boundaries and then enforce them. Moms are afraid to correct their children in public because they are made to feel guilty about discipling their child.   What happens when we raise undisciplined children?

When you hear the word discipline there are probably a few different images that come to mind for you and it's likely based off your own experiences growing up. Our upbringing can shape our understanding of what discipline is supposed to be but God's word can teach us ways that are healthy, fruitful and biblical. On today's show we are going to look at the goal of discipline and the role we play in it as care-givers. Having a clear picture of the outcome we desire to see in our children will help us to take the right next steps. Scripture also tells us that God disciplines those he calls his children but this doesn't let us off the hook. He is clear that we are to take part in the process.

Over the next three weeks we will be covering the topic discipline. Before we discuss ways to biblically do that it would be wise of us to ask the Holy Spirit to first search our heart and reveal any hidden faults within us. The way we see our children and the things we carry on our heart play into how we treat them and discipline them. Let's start by allowing God to do a work in us. :)

Last year was such a rollercoaster and I found myself clinging to Gods word more than ever before. I don't know what 2021 has in store but I do know that I need to go into it with strong faith! However, there is this little distracting thing called doubt that always seems to show up to discourage me and weaken my faith. So lets equip and empower ourselves by bringing doubt into the light and understand how it shows up in our thoughts.
