This week, NEWS.MC TV brings you the latest updates from Monaco, starting with a major advancement in medical technology. On March 12, the Princess Grace Hospital unveiled Smartspeed, a cutting-edge artificial intelligence module designed to enhance MRI diagnostics. This innovation significantly improves scan quality and efficiency, marking a new era in Monaco’s healthcare capabilities.


Laughter and introspection took centre stage at the Grimaldi Forum as the Serenissimes of Humor festival kicked off on March 12. The event opened with Philippe Lellouche’s first-ever solo stand-up show, Standalone, setting the tone for a festival that blends comedy with deeper reflections on life.


Music lovers were treated to a breathtaking performance by the Monte-Carlo Philharmonic Orchestra on March 13 at the Grimaldi Forum. As part of the Spring Arts Festival, the concert featured works by Wagner and Bruckner and paid tribute to composer Pierre Boulez on the centenary of his birth.


On the diplomatic front, a Monegasque delegation, led by National Council President Thomas Brezzo and Councillor Béatrice Fresko-Rolfo, visited Mexico City on March 15 and 16. The mission aimed to strengthen ties between Monaco and Mexico, fostering collaboration on economic, environmental, and cultural initiatives.


Monaco joined the world in celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on March 17 by illuminating the Prince’s Palace in a vibrant green. This gesture reinforced the Principality’s longstanding friendship with Ireland and its participation in global cultural traditions.


Environmental action took the spotlight as BeMed, an initiative under the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation, marked a decade of fighting plastic pollution in the Mediterranean. Over the past ten years, BeMed has spearheaded numerous projects aimed at reducing marine plastic waste, highlighting Monaco’s leadership in sustainability.


Nature made its presence felt in an unexpected way on March 18 when a 4.1-magnitude earthquake struck near Nice, with a 3.8 aftershock following later that night. While no damage was reported in Monaco, the tremors served as a reminder of the region’s seismic activity.


On the sports front, the Roca Team took a crucial step toward the EuroLeague playoffs with a hard-fought 91-82 victory over Fenerbahçe on March 20. Led by a standout performance, Monaco ended the Turkish side’s unbeaten run since February, solidifying their place in the competition.
