Monatuk and New York Beaches Surf Report for 03-31-2025

Listen Later

Beach Lovers and Wave Watchers! This is your Surf Zone Alert for the New York Coastal Region on this cloudy Sunday.

Hold onto your beach towels because today's conditions are not playing around. We've got a High Rip Current Risk blaring across all our favorite shorelines from Brooklyn to the Hamptons. Translation: Stay out of the water unless you're auditioning for an extreme survival show.

Our surf is churning with waves around 3 to 4 feet, driven by east winds howling between 15 and 20 miles per hour. Temperatures are hanging in the upper 60s both in the air and water - chilly enough to make you think twice about jumping in.

The sky is locked in cloudy mode with a chance of rain making a surprise appearance. UV index is low, so if you're hoping for a tan, today is not your day. Sunrise happened early at around 6:40 to 6:50 AM, with sunset closing the curtain between 6:36 and 6:44 PM.

Tide alerts are in effect with low tides rolling through between 11:53 AM and 12:07 PM at various inlets. Jones Beach, Fire Island, Shinnecock - each has its own timing.

Serious warning for beach goers: Rip currents are no joke today. If you accidentally find yourself caught in one, remember - don't fight the current. Float, stay calm, and signal for help.

Beach forecast resumes next year before Memorial Day weekend. Stay safe, stay smart, and respect the ocean!
